Jiangsu Provincial Association for International Science and Technology Development (JPAISTD) is a social organization with independent incorporated status initiated by the well-known personages in scientific and technical circles of Jiangsu Province and approved by the Department of Civil Affairs of Jiangsu Province for meeting the needs of the situation of reformation and opening as well as the scientific and technical development in our country. JPAISTD was established on November 18, 1999.
According to the aim and business scope stipulated by the articles of association and the policy and task put for-word by the government in the course of opening to the outside world and the construction of four modernizations, through receiving the external investigation groups in science and technology, culture, education, art, economy and so on as well as individuals, JPAISTD will organize investigation groups to go abroad for inspection and study and organize scientific and technical personnel to go abroad for research and studies, hold the activities of international science and technology conferences, technical trade meetings, discussions and exhibitions for promoting the scientific and technical development in Jiangsu Province and the utilization of scientific and technical achievements, promote the academic exchange and cooperation in science and technology at home and abroad, create new possibilities and make friends with those in scientific and technical circles at home and abroad on an extensive scale and make a contribution to the modernization of our province.
The highest organ of power of JPAISTD is the Members’ Meeting and the executive organ is the Board of Directors. The board chairman represents JPAISTD to the public and be in charge of the board chairman in charge of the internal organizing and supervising affairs and external exchange and reception, the secretary general is in charge of the supervision for daily work. JPAISTD has the Secretariat in charge of its daily work.
Since the establishment of JPAISTD, it actively arouses and gives play to the members’ action, establishing scientific and technical exchange channels at home and abroad through their wide connection with abroad; actively using overseas students and Chinese resources with the method of bringing in talent and items to help scientific research units to develop the work of technical import and reform; actively promoting hand-in-glove cooperation with the foreign-related department and qualified scientists and technicians management departments with Jiangsu province; making the exchange activities unceasingly expand the field, increase items, enrich contents and obtain good results.
The science and technology in future, especially the development of high technology, have a great influence to synthesizing national power, social economic structure and people’s life. To make the country prosperous with scientific education and put the advanced science and technology in the key position of economic and social development are the fixed policy of our country. It is the bounden duty of JPAISTD to take scientific and technical entity and economical entity as main service target and promote the transformation of scientific and technical achievements into productive forces.
In the procedure of development, Jiangsu Provincial Association for International Science and Technology Development will face new opportunities and challenges.
